GIMME5が提案してくれたアーティスト Dick Jewel の撮り下ろしたレゲエアーティストGREGORY ISAACS をヴィンテージ市場でもコレクターの多い『音楽家』シリーズをモチーフに、デザイナーと親交の深いアーティストへグラフィックを依頼したコラボレーションスウェット。ボディの生地には旧式の吊り編み機を使用しヴィンテージのオリジナル独特の生地感、縫製方法など徹底的に拘り抜きました。

NEXUSVII.20周年記念プロジェクトとしてGIMME5が提案して くれたアーティスト Dick Jewel。彼のコラージュ作品『Marilyn Myth』を使用し、今回はレーヨ ン生地でショートスリーブとショーツのアロハのセットアップ を製作致しました。 作品全体の雰囲気を損なわぬ様、入念にパターンと柄出しの チェックを重ねました。

Michael Kopelmanによって1989年に設立されたギミー・ファイブは、私たちが選んだ
それぞれのブランドの周りに物語を作り、機能と美しさを見出してきました。

Dick Jewell

Dick Jewell is an artist / film-maker and active as a camera man in both the fashion and music industries.
He has also published threebooks, Found Photos (1991) Hysteric Glamour ( 2001) and Four Thousand Threads (2015).
His first solo exhibition was at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff in1980 soon followed by group shows
at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam
and the Serpentine Gallery in London. In the 80ʼs he ran a record label in London called PRE,
releasing and designing the works of artists such as Gregory Isaacs
and Prince Far I. Dick also involved and worked with the promotion of artists such as Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack.
His films have screened at the Raindance and Commonwealth Film Festivals in the UK, and in art galleries including
in recent years the Venice Biennale, Tate Liverpool, MOMA Sydney, the ICA and the V&A Museum.
Selected public collections include Victoria & Albert Museum, The Open University, Stedelijk Museum,
Froebel Institute, Newport Museum,Whitworth Art Gallery, Leeds City Art Gallery, Camden Libraries,
Dudley Museum, Arts Council of G.B and The Hayward Gallery.

Dick Jewellは、アーティスト／フィルムメーカーであり、ファッション業界と音楽業界の両方で
カメラマンとして活躍。また、「Found Photos」（1991年）、「Hysteric Glamour」（2001年）、「Four Thousand Threads」（2015年）の3冊の写真集を出版。1980年にカーディフのチャプター・アーツ・センターで初の個展を開催し、その後、アムステルダムのステデリック・ミュージアムとロンドンのサーペンタイン・ギャラリーでグループ展を開催。80年代には、ロンドンでPRE.というレコードレーベルを運営。Gregory Isaacsや Prince Far Iなどの作品をリリースし、デザインも手がける。また、Neneh CherryやMassive Attackなどのプロモーションにも携わる。
ディックの作品は、イギリスのレインダンス映画祭やコモンウェルス映画祭で上映されているほか、
近年ではヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ、テート・リバプール、MOMAシドニー、ICA、V&Aミュージアムなどのアートギャラリーでも上映されている。主なパブリックコレクションには、Victoria & Albert Museum、The Open University、Stedelijk Museum、Froebel Institute、Newport Museum、Whitworth Art Gallery、Leeds City Art Gallery、Camden Libraries、Dudley Museum、Arts Council of G.B.、The Hayward Galleryなどに所蔵されている。

I met Dick in the 80’s. He was friends with Mark and James Lebon .
They were making a film called Headcases and they wanted to film inthe garage below my flat.
I began to notice Dickʼs work after that.
Mark and James had some of Dicks prints and I bought his book Found Photos and his print The Marilyn Myth.
I worked with Nobu Kitamura of Hysteric Glamour and Dick on the book he made for them of the same name.
I am a fan of Dicks work and films to this day.
My hope is that Dick will have an exhibition in Japan in 2022 and that I will be there.

Dickとは80年代に出会いました。彼はMarkとJames Lebonの友人でした。
彼らは「Headcases」という映画を作っていて、私のアパートの下のガレージで撮影したいと言ってきました。
それ以来、Dickの作品に注目するようになりました。 MarkとJamesはDickの作品をいくつか持っていて、私は彼の本「Found Photos」と作品「The Marilyn Myth」を買いました。
私はHysteric Glamourの北村信彦氏とDickが作った同名の本で一緒に仕事をしました。
今日に至るまで、私はDickの作品と映画のファンです。
2022年にDickが日本で展覧会を開催し、私がそこに参加出来ればと思っています。
